You’ve just crossed over into…The Comfort Zone (dun dun dunnnn)

If we were to picture a comfort zone as a physical place it would probably look something like a comfy room with dimmed lights and fluffy pillows and blankets all around, but what we should be picturing is a dark abyss where dreams go to die. A little harsh huh? Well as I’ve said previously, complacency kills dreams, and there is one place that complacency likes to dwell, surprise! it’s in your comfort zone. The reason we like our comfort zone is because it is safe and we don’t have to be afraid of anything because we aren’t doing anything new, we already know the end result. How boring is that! We only have one life to live, you will never get today back and you’re wasting it.

I may be coming off a little strong today, but I am tired of watching dreams die. I’m fired up, and you should be too. What do you want, what do you TRULY want? To feel good in your own skin for once? Keep up with friends? Travel the world? not live paycheck to paycheck? What is stopping you? Are you afraid of what people might think, or what will happen if you fail? Well I hate to break it to you, but what you’re doing isn’t working…what’s the solution? TRY SOMETHING NEW! Crazy right? I think you should try something new at least once every week, broaden your horizon you may just like what you find out there.

Fitness wise, it is always great to try new classes. It’s an easy way to get your one new thing in a week. Whether you are already fit or you are working your way to getting there, you have to keep changing it up. Your body adapts to the world around you, and working out is a great example of this. Let’s say you are trying to lose a percentage of body fat but you only go to the gym and use the elliptical, sure you may have success at first, but then what? You hit the dreaded plateau and nothing happens, you get frustrated and (be honest here) you quit. Your body is bored, I would be too if I only ever did the elliptical but that’s not the point, your body needs change to have progress. Trying new classes and switching it up keeps your body guessing and will help you move past the plateau and onto results. If you don’t work out currently because it’s boring just means you haven’t tried enough classes or activities to find something that works for you. If you’re doing an activity that you don’t enjoy, then why do it, try new classes and find something that you like and will be happy keeping in your routine.

Moral of the story, get up go out and live life to the fullest. Sure I spent the last paragraph only talking about fitness, but this is a healthy living blog (emoji with girl in “whatever” pose). But seriously, healthy living isn’t just about working out and eating right. You need to have emotional and mental health as well, and if you aren’t happy then change it up, because it’s probably bringing the rest of your health down as well. Hate your job? Get a new one! Want a dog? Get one! Want to travel? Go do it! I have learned that if something is important to you, you will make it happen no matter what. If it’s not happening it’s because it isn’t THAT important and it’s not a priority. Start today, there is no time like the present, and the week is almost up so get that new activity in and feel the winds of change coming your way! Happy Thursday!
