When Exactly is “Someday”? Hint: you won’t see it on your Calendar

“Don’t ‘Someday’ your life away!” – unknown

Let me ask one more question: Why do we say “someday?” I think that it is a lack of belief in what we are capable of. Part of us pushes our dreams away because we are afraid of failing. If we never commit and actually try, we push it off, then maybe it will fall into our lap magically without even trying, we get all the reward without any of the risk of failure. We need to change this and actually take the leap. The first step is believing you can and that you will. Instead of thinking “if,” think about “when.” Change your thought process and stay positive. You CAN do it, the question is WHEN.

Take a moment with me and close your eyes (yes I understand you can’t read while closing your eyes so humor me and read the whole paragraph before actually doing it). Visualize what you want your life to look like, where do you want to live? What job do you want? Who do you want to be with? What do you want to spend your time doing? Are you currently doing any of those activities? What steps do you need to take to get there? Have you ever caught yourself saying “someday…” when thinking about your dreams? Now open your eyes.

Today is where someday ends and today starts. No more pushing off dreams and aspirations, take little steps toward tomorrow, today! Go back to the goal sheet you made from “Putting the ‘U’ in Success” and look at each day as its own small achievable goal. Personally, I find it overwhelming when I look at the big picture or end goal and forget to break it down. Take the baby steps and work up to it, you will grow personally on your journey to success and become the person you need to be. What type of person will be standing at your finish line? Work hard to become that person and as you grow and you will not believe the difference between the you that started and the you and that finishes! I believe in you, now go out and start “someday” today!
